Strengthening Armenia’s Capital Markets
Andersen in Armenia is proud to have played a key role in the development of Armenian law-governed industry documentation for derivatives, securities lending and repurchase transactions, initiated by the Central Bank of Armenia with technical support from the EBRD and financial assistance of the Japanese government.
Andersen’s legal team comprising of Larisa Gevorgyan (Financial Services Lead Counsel) and Mary Hambardzumyan (Associate) and supervised by Varoujan Avedikian (Managing Partner) and Misak Babajanyan, PhD (Senior Partner) was in charge for developing a local law governed Master Agreement, Schedule to the Master Agreement, SFT Definitions and Credit Support Agreement, based on the best industry standards developed by ISDA. The documentation is set to be published by the Central Bank of Armenia in the upcoming months.
Following a round of market review and feedback in the drafting stage, on June 12th our team conducted, together with the Central Bank of Armenia and EBRD, a targeted training for technical, operational and legal specialists and a workshop for C-level executives, followed by interactive Q&A sessions.
The recording of the training will be published on our YouTube channel very soon.
We believe this milestone will enhance legal certainty, enable large-scale transactions, and boost confidence in Armenia’s financial markets.
